On this production, Rigbox is embedded within Cinesite’s rigging team, contributing to the development of facial setups for a range of stylized characters. Working directly within the studio’s pipeline and proprietary toolset, this collaboration focuses on supporting high-quality, performance-driven facial animation in line with the film’s creative direction.

This opportunity highlights Rigbox’s ability to operate at the highest level of feature animation production, contributing within world-class pipelines on major studio projects.

Accompanied by a talented team hired at Rigbox for this exciting endeavor (Vincent Bayoux & Dao Nguyen ), we meticulously crafted a range of different rigs: we developed a clever feather system for the birds, perfected the intricate wing mechanism of the butterflies, and also designed the quadruped and multi-legged characters. The process proved to be a delightful challenge. The animation team expressed their satisfaction with the level of control they had, resulting in a visually stunning masterpiece despite the small budget of the production.

Story

Butterfly Tale is an animated feature film for the whole family set along the diverse, picturesque, and ever-changing backdrop of the great Monarch butterfly migration. It is a tale of adventure, self-realization and heroism told with humour whose message is that our differences are less important than the bonds we share, and it is in adversity that our true character shines through.

Story

Daphnée and Merlin (12 years old and 7 ½ years old) go to see their eccentric great-grand-mother Greta for her 100th birthday. Left at home by their parents, looking for a last minute gift, the siblings discover that Greta is being manipulated by crooks who wants to send her to retirement home to steal her stuff! Daphne and Merlin will save their granny and receive help from magical creatures: the Bottanix! Greta’s friends, nature creatures, take the opportunity to bring back the whole family on the path of openness, sharing and a healthier life.

Space Cadet is a feature-length adaptation of Kid Koala’s graphic novel of the same name and produced by Outsiders Films. All 3D rigs were designed to allow a stop-motion animation style. Here is the trailer below :)

Story

ROBOT existed to serve only one purpose: to raise Celeste into the happy, brilliant scientist she is today. But now the young Space Cadet is departing for her first interstellar mission, and Robot is left alone without anyone to care for.

Happy that Celeste finally realizes the dream of her life, Robot knows that one day she will return from her mission… Time passes and loneliness weighs on him affecting his aging technological structure.

In space, Celeste faces a more difficult mission than expected.

A dangerous obstacle jeopardizes her mission. As she searches for a way out of trouble, memories of her childhood resurface.

Space Cadet is an inspiring musical fable about memory, aging and destiny, reminding us that sometimes our memories hold the key to a serene and happy life.

We have been approached to provide our expertise in rigging for the animation short film titled Unstable. The characters and animation in this project possess a captivating and cartoonish aesthetic. This pilot project primarily serves the purpose of securing funding, thus presenting us with the promising prospect of witnessing the commencement of a full-scale production in the near future. Story

It’s a caper with heart. Bravo is a proud police horse who is tricked by his rider into assisting in the crime of the century: switch the Queen’s crown for a fake. Betrayed, Bravo goes on the run with the evidence and finds refuge in the garden of a little girl, Luna, who always wanted a real pony. It’s love at first sight, for her. But not for him! Luna and her crazy pets (who think they’re ponies too!) nurse Bravo and train him to win the local horse show. Bravo even gets a new name (Princess Lady Boots) and a sparkly makeover! But in his single-minded quest for revenge, Bravo selfishly puts Luna in danger.

The renowned L’Atelier Animation partnered with my collegue Dao Nguyen and myself at Rigbox to utilize our expertise to assist their rigging team creating 2 lovable cartoon dogs that greatly satisfied their animation team.

Story

Sixteen-year-old Georgia Nolan dreams of being the world’s first-ever female firefighter. When a mysterious arsonist starts burning down Broadway, New York’s firemen begin vanishing. The Mayor of New York calls Georgia’s father Shawn out of retirement to lead the investigation into the disappearances. Desperate to help her father and save her city, Georgia disguises herself as a young man called “Joe” and joins a small group of misfit firefighters trying to stop the arsonist.

When we first launched our rigging studio in 2018, we had a vision to push the boundaries of 3D animation and deliver top-notch character rigs. Collaborating with talented individuals Dao Nguyen and Yuri, we set out to create a captivating character that would demonstrate the full capabilities of our pipeline. Through the addition of features like squash and stretch, dynamics, and cartoon deformation, we were able to bring our character to life in a way that made us really proud. Since that period, we have fine-tuned our internal processes and pipeline even more, and we can’t wait to collaborate on new exciting projects.

Before founding our rigging studio, I had the pleasure of working at L’Atelier Animation as a Rigging Supervisor, where I had the opportunity to contribute to this exciting animation film.

Despite the immense task ahead, our team embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. It was essential to ensure that the rigs aligned perfectly with the animation requirements and allowed for seamless movement and expression.

Collaboration was key throughout the entire process. The rigorous teamwork and coordination among the rigging team, animators, and other departments made this project a success.

This project at L’Atelier Animation allowed me to sharpen my rigging skills, strengthen my leadership abilities as a supervisor, and taught me the importance of effective communication and collaboration within a team. It was an experience that greatly influenced the formation of Rigbox Studio, where I continue to build upon the skills and knowledge gained during this amazing project.

Prior to establishing Rigbox Studio, I served as the Rigging Supervisor at L’Atelier Animation, where I embarked on an extraordinary venture tailored specifically for a youthful audience. Our mission was undeniably monumental - crafting over 200 human and robot rigs within a tight timeframe, with a meticulously curated team of riggers. Considering the low budget and tight schedule, the outcome we ultimately accomplished left us exultant with pride.
